Chapter 9 - Interesting Touches

Talented muralist, Traci Watson

We were ready to add some interesting touches to our otherwise drab and ordinary B&B decor.  We wanted something a little different and we wanted it to be memorable so we hired Traci Watson to spruce things up.

Traci Watson is an incredibly talented mural artist.

Actually, Traci is incredibly talented in a lot of areas.

She makes fabulous, Victorian mini conservatories for the garden out of vintage window panes. She can spend the morning decorating a room in superb shabby chic style then, later that afternoon, paint a life size portrait of a Civil War General on the side of the local tavern that bears his name.

Her ideas and her visions are astounding. She can see right to the core of design and style creating beauty from the bland.

Traci loves to work with paint and, given enough of it, would paint the entire world pink - her favorite color.

Traci's work sparkles with life and movement - always with a touch of humor and fairy dust.

Traci works quickly - incredibly quickly. Watching her work, you can see her mind's eye moving faster than her rollers and paint brushes.  She is gifted and amazing!

Our entry foyer

Traci brought life and merriment to our plain white walls.
She started with the stair case leading to the garden room - our catering space on the lower level of the Mane House Inn.

She painted the walls a pale sky blue then filled them, floor to ceiling, with puffy clouds, huge flowers, and a trellis of cascading roses.  Like any good garden, there were plenty of birds - so real you could almost hear them chirp.   As a surprise, she painted a rabbit hutch on a tiny door.

The entry foyer ceiling came next.

Traci painted it a rich, heavenly blue and floated our horses in the tranquil, star studded sky.  In each corner, she painted a fox medallion with a seasonal punctuation.

Corner Medallion
For spring, the east facing corner, the fox was accented with roses - our favorite flower.

Summer, the south facing corner, with ears of corn.

Fall on the west corner had a pumpkin accent.

And winter, the north corner, pine cones.

In a flash, she was done and off to her next project.
